Stop the Documentation Scramble. Build Systems Over Sweat.

Leveraging 37 years of Long-Term Care nursing infrastructure to eliminate the frantic signature chase, secure total compliance, and protect clinical integrity—without burning out your team.

Using her proprietary 6-Step MDS Auditing Method, Maria Messina evaluates facility-wide clinical systems to identify critical compliance gaps, documentation leakage, and structural vulnerabilities. By bridging the gap between bedside charting and accurate MDS coding, Maria helps nursing home leadership eliminate operational drift, minimize ADR risks, and build the sustainable, stress-free workflows clinical teams need to maintain total compliance integrity.

I work with skilled nursing facilities, MDS coordinators, directors of nursing, assistant DONs, administrators, and regional leaders who want stronger systems, fewer surprises on survey, and less stress around reimbursement.

Ready for more support with your MDS work

Meet Maria Messina

I am a registered nurse with more than three decades in long term care. Most of my career has been spent inside skilled nursing facilities as a floor nurse, MDS coordinator, director of nursing, and consultant. I understand how heavy it can feel to protect residents, support staff, keep up with regulations, and manage reimbursement all at the same time.

Why I Focus on MDS and Long Term Care

MDS work is both critical and isolating. You are expected to know the rules, protect reimbursement, and anticipate survey concerns, often with limited training and very little time. My work is centered on helping MDS nurses, DONs, and nursing home leaders feel less alone, more confident, and more supported as they do this work.

  • Clear explanations that connect regulations to daily practice

  • Practical tools that simplify your week

  • A space where you can ask questions without judgment

Leadership, Cancer, and Compassion for the People Doing the Work

While working in long term care, I navigated a breast cancer diagnosis and treatment while continuing to support residents, staff, and families. That experience deepened my empathy for nurses and leaders who are carrying a lot, both at work and at home. I bring that perspective into every consult, training, and coaching session.

Today, I support skilled nursing facilities through the Efficient MDS Resource Guide and membership, consulting and audits for facilities, and individual coaching for nurses and leaders who want structure, clarity, and a little more breathing room in their week.

If you are looking for more structure and support around your MDS work, start with the Efficient MDS Resource Guide.
