We are all may be experiencing feelings of increased stress and burnout during these challenging times in the nursing profession. Many of you are tired from working short staffed on the units and may be experiencing feelings of PTS from what you have dealt with in caring for patients during Covid. Many of you are questioning whether it is time to retire or leave the profession and do something else less stressful. We have all been there. I have worked in long term care nursing for 30 plus years and started my career pushing a med cart and completing treatments for the patients in my charge. I would be that nurse who worried and questioned myself, did I do everything I was supposed to do and did I take the time to make a difference in my resident’s day for the better. I was fortunate to learn of another career path which was the role of the MDS Coordinator.
Imagine that you can also learn and chose this career path that is not physically demanding but rather allows you to use your knowledge. Both experienced nurses as well as new Graduates are able to use your assessment skills that your were taught to provide the best care for the patients in your charge.
