As of July 1, 2025, the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) has implemented significant changes affecting Nursing Facilities. The Optional State Assessment (OSA) is no longer required, thanks to House Bill 96. This change introduces the Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM), which utilizes the MDS 3.0 assessment data to classify residents into payment groups for reimbursement.
I understand that navigating these changes can be challenging. If you’re an MDS staff member trying to make sense of the new PDPM and its implications, you’re not alone. Let’s connect!
